After graduating, Greta Thunberg claimed to have participated in her final Friday "school strike" against climate change, but she vowed to continue her protests.
"School strike week 251.". Today is my last day of school, so I won't be able to go on a strike for the climate, she wrote on Twitter.
Greta started protesting outside the Swedish parliament in 2018 when she was 15 years old.
She claimed she wouldn't go to class until lawmakers acted, and she was carrying a sign that read, "School strike for climate change.".
Her one-woman demonstration sparked a number of Fridays for Future or School Strike for Climate movements in Europe, the US, and Australia.
Greta, now 20 years old, has come to stand for the fight of young people to wean the world off of fossil fuels that are causing global warming.
She is simply described as an "Autistic climate justice activist" in her Twitter bio. She has criticized world leaders on a number of occasions and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
She was briefly detained earlier this year during a coal protest in Germany, and she made it clear in a Friday Twitter feed that she had no plans to stop protesting.
We have an obligation to speak up if we can. We need everyone to make the necessary changes, she said.
Even though there isn't a "school strike," I'll still demonstrate on Fridays. There is simply nothing we can do but do everything we can. The battle has just started.
