Harvey Weinstein, a former head of the Hollywood film industry, received a second 16-year prison term on Thursday in Los Angeles for alleged rape and sexual assault in 2013.
The 70-year-old is already serving a 23-year term for a different New York conviction.
As far back as the late 1970s, more than 80 people have accused Weinstein of misconduct and rape.
His denial of ever engaging in non-consensual sex.
A Los Angeles jury found Weinstein guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault on Jane Doe 1, an anonymous model and actor, on December 19.
The victim testified that Weinstein assaulted her in a hotel room in February 2013 while an Italian film festival was taking place in Los Angeles.
In the same sexual battery trial against a different accuser, Weinstein was found not guilty. Three additional sexual assault counts, including one involving Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, went to a jury that was unable to reach a verdict. The judge declared there to be a mistrial.
He will probably contest the punishment.
In the Los Angeles case, the former film oligarch faced a maximum sentence of 18 years in prison. Inability of the jury to reach a verdict on whether Weinstein planned the rape or whether the victim was "particularly vulnerable" spared him from a sentence of up to 24 years.
Weinstein received a 23-year prison term in 2020 for sexually assaulting and raping a production assistant in 2006 and a would-be actress in 2013. He filed a protest.
The conviction was regarded as a crucial turning point in the MeToo movement, which had brought to light the pervasive sexual misconduct and harassment in the film and television industry.
