A local television station's undercover investigation led to the resignation of the chairman of India's cricket selection committee.

Chetan Sharma, a former star cricket player, was caught on camera making shocking claims about the selection process and specific players.

After becoming popular on social media, the video caused controversy.

Senior cricket officials stated that Mr. Sharma's resignation had been accepted and that he had "resigned voluntarily.".

According to a senior member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, "Yes, Chetan Sharma has tendered his resignation to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.".

"Following the sting operation, his position had become untenable. ".

Mr. Sharma was recently reappointed to his position, which he had held since December 2020.

He was heard discussing issues pertaining to the men's cricket team in video released by Zee TV on Tuesday.

He claimed in the video that Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian team, and Sourav Ganguly, the former BCCI president, had "ego clashes.".

He claimed that Mr. Kohli had misrepresented the truth by asserting that the governing body had not informed him of his removal as ODI captain.

There was no need to discuss this subject. Mr. Sharma is heard saying in the video, "but he [Mr. Kohli] did so intentionally.

He also claimed that some athletes play even though they are not fully healthy and that some athletes use injections to hasten their recovery from injuries.

Since the video was released, Mr. Sharma has kept quiet.
