The Israeli military claimed that its troops started firing while pursuing two assailants who had earlier fired at a nearby Jewish settlement.   .

The military also expressed regret for hurting "non-combatants" in a statement following the incident.

The Israeli army ambushed a car at the entrance to Nabi Saleh, according to wounded journalist and Palestinian activist Bilal Tamimi, who claimed the Israeli army was waiting to do so.

The toddler had head injuries and was flown by an Israeli military helicopter to Safra Children's Hospital in Israel for treatment, but he or she did not recover.   .

Currently, a Palestinian hospital has released his father, Haitham. Before he passed away, it's believed he was able to visit his son in Israel.

Two figures can be seen shooting guns in a grainy video that was previously released by the Israeli military, which has a post nearby Nabi Saleh. It claimed that the shooting toward the Neveh Tzuf (also known as Halamish) settlement lasted "a number of minutes.".

It claimed that when the Palestinians retaliated, its soldiers opened fire, injuring two of them.   .

The [Israeli military] regrets inflicting harm on noncombatants and is dedicated to doing everything in its power to stop such occurrences. It said, "The incident is being investigated.

Halamish is a settlement that was built in the 1970s and has long caused conflict with nearby Palestinian villagers.

In Nabi Saleh, protests against the annexation of the village's spring and the confiscation of its lands have been held every Friday for a number of years.   .

These frequently resulted in tense encounters with Israeli soldiers who used tear gas and rubber bullets to block their path.

In the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza Strip since the year's beginning, about 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers. The figures include both civilians and militants.

In addition, 23 Israelis have died in violence linked to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, including two foreigners and a Palestinian worker. Israeli security forces personnel made up one of the deceased.

Children are among the deceased on both sides. The West Bank's youngest Palestinian fatality was Mohammed Tamimi.

Currently, in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, there are about 700,000 settlers. Although Israel disputes it, settlements are regarded as illegal under international law.
