Ios

While on vacation in Greece, two teenagers who recently graduated from the same Dublin school perished.

Max Wall and Andrew O'Donnell perished on the island of Ios in separate incidents, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

It had been a "day of immense sadness," according to St. Michael's College.

Simon Harris, the minister of higher education in Ireland, added that the news was "devastating.".

"All leaving certificate students abroad in Greece who were enjoying holidays after exams and are now encountering such shock, pain, and grief," he said, expressed his sympathy.

St. Michael's College said in a statement that Andrew O'Donnell was both a "popular classmate and friend" and a "popular member of the school's football team.".

It went on to say that Max Wall was "extremely well-liked by both staff and students.".

"At this terrible time, our thoughts are with Max's family and his friends who have suffered such shocking losses in the previous 24 hours. ".

In the upcoming days and weeks, the school promised that its staff would be available to speak with and help students.
