Ukrainian children receive quilts made by Ludlow sewers

The Ludlow Quilters

Nearly 20 quilts were made by members of a sewing group, and they will be given to Ukrainian families as gifts for their kids.

After claiming to have observed refugees entering Shropshire in 2022, the Ludlow Quilters started making the quilts.

Since the start of the war, more than 830 Ukrainians have moved to the county, according to Home Office statistics.

We thought it would be nice to make some quilts for their kids, said group member Jean Watt.

"I suggested that we make fairly large, 12-inch blocks out of our scraps, add sashing around them, and voila! A lovely, cheerful quilt. ".

The Ludlow Quilters have created twenty-two quilts that they intend to present to neighborhood families on Saturday at their nearby Quaker meeting place.

We thought it would be nice to take the quilts to them because they go there almost every Saturday to learn English, according to Mrs. Watt.
