Staff conflict training is being considered as a result of rowdy Clacton theatergoers

Due to an increase in "rowdy and foul-mouthed" patrons, a theatre manager said conflict management training for staff was being considered.

The issue was getting worse, according to Kai Aberdeen, manager of the Princes Theatre in Clacton, Essex.

He claimed that staff members had been attacked by an "inebriated" customer after they saw people smuggling bottles of vodka into the establishment rather than bottled water.

His statement that theaters should be "a place of decorum".

According to Mr. Aberdeen, "it's been noticed by all managers [at] different theaters," according to BBC Essex. "We've noticed more recently, and it appears to be getting worse.

"Many people are now choosing to bring in bottles of vodka rather than bottles of water, which is a big change for us. ".

Although the theater has a bar that serves alcohol, he claimed that it is "very difficult to monitor someone just swigging vodka in the auditorium.".

The town hall is where the theater is located.

The manager claimed that there had been several instances where patrons' behavior had damaged the enjoyment of others or caused discomfort for the staff.

The situation has reached the point where he said they were thinking about giving their front-of-house staff conflict management training.

"We don't expect them to perform the duties of door staff, but in order to keep them safer we have a duty of care - they're just normal people, they check tickets and assist patrons in finding their seats and restrooms.

They're not there to handle rowdy, foul-mouthed individuals. ".

He claimed that the theater had frequently had to hire licensed door staff "if we expect the rowdy element" for performances.

It's understandable in a nightclub, but you wouldn't anticipate people getting so drunk in a theater that they wouldn't care about other people's experiences.
